Halifax CU seeks to support one another as we learn more of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and to encourage each other in the outworking of this relationship in all areas of our lives.
We exist to share the good news of the gospel to a generation without Jesus and without hope.
We meet Wednesdays, 7pm in JJ’s. Usually we split into smaller groups to explore the bible together and spend time praying for each other. We head to the pub at about 9pm for some 'fellowship', so feel free to come and join us for both/either of our Wednesday activities!
We are part of the University Of York Christian Union and on Saturday evenings we meet together with the other college CUs to worship God together as an expression of our unity.

“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
As Christians our relationship with God fuels all that we do. It isn’t about being good or earning points, but we serve because we follow Jesus’ example and because we are so grateful for all He as done and is doing for us.
We are no better than anyone else, we are not ‘good people’, we don’t always make the right choices and we don’t have all the answers. In fact, we recognise that we have rebelled against God and that we are broken and disobedient to the core.
But, we believe God loves the world He made so much; enough to send His son, Jesus, to suffer and die in our place - even before we were willing to follow Him. Not only this, but after being executed as a criminal on a cross, Jesus was raised from the dead, defeating death bringing hope for all of creation. We have all rebelled against God, but through Jesus he has forgiven us and has brought us into a right relationship with Him. God continues to change and heal us until one day Jesus comes again to judge the world, bringing an end to injustice and restoring all things to how God originally intended them to be. This is what we hope and long for. And we are giving our lives to living out that future reality now.
This truth, known as the Gospel, has changed our lives. It’s why we do what we do.

Big Questions is a small group which is focused on discussing some of the Big topics in life that we might not always take time to think about;
Whose responsibility is poverty?
What is the purpose of sex?
What is happiness?
Big Questions is an ideal small group to come along to explore faith and belief and a chance to ask any Big Questions that interest you, not matter what you believe. We meet on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm and spend time in JJ’s, in the pub or in someone’s room!
